Wallabee Language

Trying to figure out what people are saying can be a bit daunting. In fact, once you've been around a while, you forget that you're speaking another language. I'm sure this will be a work in progress, but I'll try to get started:

  • SD - Single Digit Item. You can go months or years without getting one. You've got to be fast!
  • DD - Double Digit Item. If you set up enough notifications and keep your phone on and nearby, you'll probably start bagging some.
  • TD - Triple Digit Item. Just pay attention to the alerts and you can get these. At least now. The game changes - it used to be a lot easier to get DDs, so it probably won't always be easy to get TDs. And if you miss a drop, you might miss the TD. Especially if you sleep through it.
  • QD - Four Digit Item. The Q stands for Quad. Couldn't Q also stand for Quint? No. Because no one cares about 5 Digit Items. At least not now. But they will.
  • {color} - You'll see player shouting colors out, like Orange, or Blue without saying anything else. During a drop, every second counts. The color tells you which category of places (as identified by the ring around the place icon) where you should forage the new item. You might find it's quicker to look at the activity feed to see where to find an item than the forum.
  • Pink/Red - Be careful here. The colors are very close. If someone shouts Red (services), they might mean Pink (shops). Might be worth double-checking by looking in the All Activity feed.
  • ISO - In Search Of. A player is in search of the named item
  • FCFS - First Come First Served. For great offers, like TDs for a Mixer, you'll have to be fast. First trade gets it.
  • drop - A generic term for an item release, either in the store or via foraging. Bear in mind that some items that start in the store may become forageable after a short time and vice-versa. So keep on your toes.
  • sleep - This used to be something to enjoy. It is now your nemesis. Grab it while you can get it, but always keep your phone on, loud, and near at hand. Or pay the price
  • unlock - To unlock someone else's forum post. The same person can only post twice in a row in the forums. If you try to post a third time, you'll get a notification and will be unable to post (go ahead, try it. Everyone else has.). Another player has to "unlock" the post before you can post again. You'll see this often in an auction thread.
  • cowboy - If you post twice in a row in the same thread, you are unable to post a third time until someone else posts. If you try to post a third time, you'll get a notification calling you a cowboy and will be unable to post (go ahead, try it. Everyone else has.). Another player has to "unlock" the post before you can post again. You'll see this often in an auction thread.
  • FR - A friend request. You cannot send a PM or a trade request until one of the players has sent a friend request and the other player has accepted.
  • TR - A trade request. Once you have become friends with another player, you can start to send them requests to trade one of your items for one of theirs.
  • PM - Private message. You can only send private messages to friends
  • 1xy - Item numbered from 100-199. As DDs start to get hard to collect, some people have started targeting 1xy items instead. This type of nomenclature is also used to describe other similar patterns.
  • x000 - An item numbered 1000, 2000, …, 9000. Some people like to collect patterns rather than just one number and this is a quick way to describe it. This type of nomenclature is also used to describe other similar patterns.
  • The Swarm - in Autumn 2014, a new game element was announced. Every few months, a virtual Swarm of Bees would fly around and pick up items that had been recycled to far-flung locations. It initially only picked up WallaBee-issued items under #1000, but has gone up to #2000 at times. A far-flung location is defined as a place that has zero visitors, either because no one ever visited there, or any players who had visited there deleted their account. So any item you drop is safe from The Swarm, as are any items dropped or recycled to any place you have visited.
